Making Our Way Downtown, but in Boston

We FINALLY went to Boston for our couple’s trip and O-M-G, it did not disappoint. I am in love with the city. That being said, I have to split my trip in three posts because let’s be honest, the human reading span of anything is like seven seconds.

Now that I’ve caught your attention, let’s start with where to explore first!

Known for its famous baked beans, Fenway Park, The Boston Marathon, and the Cheers bar; Boston is simply amazing!!! It is said that Boston has good value, a strong job market, a high quality of life, and high desirability as a place to live.

Here’s a bunch of random fun facts I learned along the way about this gorgeous city (and state):

  • It’s a major destination for Irish immigrants.
  • The first subway system was built here.
  • The first ever zip code is actually from Massachusetts.

From downtown to the Time Out Market, there’s a lot to see. It’s a 40 minute drive to pass through these destinations. Take your time!!! I put them in order from the heart of downtown Boston to the outskirts of it.

Quincy Market in Fanueil Hall on Market Street

I really thought I would go shopping, but it was mostly a plaza feel with souvenir shops. Most pop up stores had about the same items, so it wasn’t as hard to say no in making a new purchase. Also because Tyler makes me tunnel vision through any kind of shopping so I don’t steer away from the goal… so grab what you need, put it in your backpack and walk out. The way most guys shop anyway.

Chinatown Gate

It was an absolute pit stop. I just really wanted to see the detail of the gate and what it looked like. I love art in different shapes and sizes, so that definitely hit the spot. It was just so much tradition in one piece. I know, I’m weird. *just passing by*

Boston Public Library

We weren’t allowed to enter for two reasons: 1) it was closed by the time we got there and 2) you need a valid photo ID with a library card. As tourists, it makes it a little difficult to want to explore such a historic site, but I get it. Have at it, Bostonians! It could also be because of covid

The Streets of Back Bay

Since 1859, this area has become a real, upscale neighborhood. Lots of history in these streets and very walkable. While the trains are very easy to work through too, walking was also fun! I did my exercise for the weekend for sure because we made our way downtown and back on foot.

Prudential

Featuring over 60+ shops, it’s a beautiful New England spot to spend your monies. It’s located in the Back Bay Bend!

Eataly

I definitely wish we had time to eat here, but we walked around the market instead. There were so many options to look at or even souvenir shop. I love the culture that Italians bring to its restaurants, especially in the states. You can definitely see how proud Italians are through their food, trinkets, and all.

Outskirts of Boston

Fenway Park

Originally, we were not supposed to pass by this area, but I think it was just meant to be! Full of history and baseball, the banners really ran us through history even to this day.

Fenway Park was built in 1912 because owner of the Red Sox, John Taylor. He wanted a new ballpark for his team. So in April 1912, the ballpark was completed and named Fenway Park due to its location of “The Fens” in Boston.

Annnnnnnd the oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball!

Time Out Market

If you’re a foodie, raise your hand!!!! This is like a huge hall of food places from all kinds of cuisines. It’s insane how many options you have and how many seats we didn’t get to sit in because it’s SO popular. They actually have a Time Out Market across other states. Maybe you have one in yours?

Boston, you were amazing! Definitely a spot I’d consider living if I could ever move again. I loved it THAT much. While I’m pondering life… here’s everything you need on the foodie spots I went to and if you were a tad bit of a history junkie like me.
