Iowa’s Hole in the Walls
I love love love food, but I tend to snack a lot. I also eat small portions because I eat so many times a day. But you know what they say…. vacation calories don’t count!
I’ve separated the locations I went to by categories, so it’s easier for you to navigate what you’re most interested in.

5 Borough Bagels
What a cute on-the-go breakfast place! We chose to grab and go since we had a long day ahead of us and the service was so quick. It’s actually a New York style place, so that was cool!
Left: ham and cheese bagel and Right: plain bagel with cream cheese.
La Mie Bakery
As one of the most recommended little bakeries in town, it was a hit! It looks like a very cozy coffee shop. To provide an easy comparison, it has the space of St. Roch’s Market in Miami, but more of a coffee shop feel.
Americana
ALL YOU CAN EAT AND BOTTOMLESS DRINKS!!! For only $32.
I think we ate the most breakfast here, because we got multiple plates of food and dessert. My sister and I are huge foodies, if you couldn’t tell already!
This place is SOOO worth it!

Bubba
If you’ve read my recent post, Bubba is VERY similar to the restaurant I went to in Ohio, called The Elevator. Check out the post here.
We shared the southern bread basket. I ordered a three piece fried chicken set, a side of mashed potatoes with mac and cheese, while my sister ordered chicken, mashed potatoes and fried onions. It was cooked to perfection!
Exile Brewing Company
I love places that give you more than one area option to sit in. On the left, there was open seating by the cold windows and on the right, it was all tables and booths.
We ordered two flights of beer and I’m very impressed we finished both! Of course, we ordered cheese curds and grilled chicken tenders with fries.
Jethro’s BBQ
Cheers to one of the most recommended places to eat in Iowa! It even has a wall of shame because of a challenge they do. The girl who beat her own record, ate everything she needed to in 4 minutes! WOAH!
We obviously had the cheese squares and tried eating the entire plate of food by ourselves, but it was just very difficult to fit everything into our little tummy’s. Siesta (Spanish for nap) time was much needed after this meal!!!
Zombie Burger and Drink Lab
Everyone mentioned this place but I wasn’t five star satisfied. Although we felt we had the full experience, it felt too sweet to be true. We split the burger and had our own milkshakes- I had the Zombie Unicorn Shake and my sister had the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Shake.
There’s definitely so many cute places in Iowa, you just have to look. We were able to explore as much as possible, still have time to sleep and ate until we rolled on the floor.
