How to Cook Spaghetti in Twenty Minutes

I love how every time I visit my boyfriend’s mom, I get to learn a little more about cooking each time. I’ve made it a goal to cook more in 2022, thanks to making something of my new year’s resolution. It’s actually pretty funny because I’m not huge on working in the kitchen, so time always steers me. I’ve cooked other dishes here and there, but this one is GOOOD.

Quick and few ingredients always gets me.

Find your favorite pot, because we’re starting with or without you!

What you’ll need:

  • 0.4 lbs of ground beef
  • 0.1 cup of diced onion
  • 2 tsp of minced garlic
  • 0.4 can or 28 oz of crushed tomatoes
  • black pepper (to taste)
  • salt (to taste)
  • 0.8 cups of water
  • 3.2 oz of spaghetti
  • optional: 1.6 torn basil leaves
  • optional: parmesan cheese

Grab your pan or dutch oven to place it over the stove over HIGH heat. Having chopped the onion prior, we added the beef to the dutch oven to get a head start. Add your salt and pepper condiments while you crush the raw meat.

Before adding the onions and garlic to cook, make sure the beef has turned into that brownish color. That should take about 3 minutes. As you add the other ingredients, make sure you stir everything for 3 to 4 minutes to add the flavor necessary.

Add the crushed tomatoes, black pepper, water, (optional: basil) and mix it all. Once you’re ready, add the spaghetti to the mix. We cut ours in half to make it fit and it’s also easier to eat when in smaller bites.

Stir everything together so it’s well covered and mixed thoroughly.

The quick and easy part is to mix all ingredients, close the pan and leave it cooking for about 20 minutes on medium-low heat.

Don’t forget to set a timer!

While you’re letting that cook, you can bring the utensils out or change from your work clothes to comfy clothes or even just sit and watch tv. Multitasking is key!

Every time there’s an opportunity to cook with my boyfriend’s mom, I take it. She cooks amazing and always has so much patience when teaching me. Making a mess in the kitchen is my specialty, but now I’m really trying to make an effort to cook more. It also helps that we find quick foodie recipes, because my patience level for cooking hasn’t increased just yet.

We paired it with garlic bread and veggies. And we made it to serve 4 vs the 2 that I’ll be writing on.

Enjoy!!!!
