Friends Love Food Spots and Trail Gems in Wisconsin
Home of the cheese, land of all the cheesies. That’ll be the only weird statement I’ll make in this post. But GET EXCITED!!! It’s all about the cheese town!!! *ok now I’m done*
To burn all the calories I’m about to give you with just reading this post, you’ll want to explore these hidden gems. They’re also such short of a walk to very picturesque views. I’m a sucker for a good view, if you know anything about me.
We hiked through Fort Atkinson
Dorothy Carnes Park
Looking for places to hike is tough, but I feel like Fort Atkinson made is that much easier. I had actually downloaded the AllTrails app for my national parks trip and it also knew this area! (Not an ad). This park in particular was very dog friendly and easy to walk through. Lots of nature to enjoy together!
Wanie’s Pond Walkway to Mush-Ko-Se-Day Park
We honestly didn’t even know what we were walking into until we were too deep in. It felt like it was part of a residential passage way but it was just off the residents and into the smallest path I had ever seen. This day park had a bench right before stopping at the pond and it was the cutest space. You can probably just have a picnic and sit there for a few.
Am I the only one that wants to take a nap after eating so much food?
I know the next few places are going to be in different cities, but they were all spots I’d love to go to again. I love me some coffee shops! I even have a whole post dedicated to it from Illinois. As well as family-entertained restaurants.
Blue Collar Coffee in Delafield
Coffee shops are my absolute favorite because they all have a different personality to them. They’re all decorated differently and it just has lots of character. Blue Collar had a rustic vibe. It was classy and wooden, I thought. And loved the food, of course!
Paddy Coughlin’s Pub in For Atkinson
We took our food to go because we wanted to spend as much time with our pup. We really got to maximize our time by driving around a little and spotting these hidden gems. They serve in large portions. So I would go a little hungry if you wanted to eat here.
Amalia’s Family Restaurant in Oconomowoc
We were able to go with a few friends to eat brunch here and it was the cutest spot. Our friend recommended it to us and the food did not disappoint. Lots of menu options and loved the vibe. The restaurant is in a plaza center. You walk in, there’s a friendly bar to your right and seating on the left. We obviously had to sit in a booth!
I love coming to Wisconsin all the time. It’s an hour drive from where we live, so we try to go as much as possible to enjoy other states. It also helps that Wisconsin is the cheese state, because I LOVE cheese. They also have their own local beer- only sold in the state- called Spotted Cow! People will literally drive to Wisconsin to buy it and drive back. It’s CRAZY!
