Couple’s Getaway in the Middle of Nowhere Michigan
HELLO PEOPLE OF THE MIDWEST, and all my favorite people!
This is it.
The getaway you’ve all been waiting for!
Tyler planned this getaway with two other couples to escape human life, basically. It was also planned in the middle of the week because it was relatively cheaper to stay on site than during the weekend. Doggos were also invited, so Johnny came along.
We road tripped to the middle of nowhere, Michigan. It was a very large camp site of just nature all around. Where we stayed was a huge portable home with bunk beds, a small kitchen and shower space, and a little table. Imagine a small RV or one of those cars that people transform nowadays.
I want to say that there were about thirty portable trailers on site. Each very far apart with enough privacy. We had to basically drive to the next portable home to be able to co-mingle with the neighbors. There were also grills and tables outside to enjoy.
The campsite is in Grand Junction, Michigan
It was booked on Getaway Chicago and the one we specifically went to was in Barber Creek.
While we were here, we also walked and exercised tons. And of course grilled and played games! I absolutely love that Tyler’s friends are always down to play card/board and all kinds of games.
The comfiest shoes on the planet earth to hike in are these waterproof hiking boots and the best investment ever. I use them for mud, trails, snow, puddles (because I’m still a kid and jump in little water puddles), literally anything you want to feel invisible in your hiking journey. I purposely bought them for my hiking trip to the National Parks because they were highly recommended. They did not disappoint.
I loved that when we arrived, they had a cellphone lockbox to add our phones in so we can soak in as much mother nature as we could throughout the getaway trip. They also left us a few things for Johnny to enjoy, and probably to keep the area nice and clean too.
We still wanted to make the days count and actually make it through a trail around the area, so we found Kal-Haven Trail State Park. We probably walked about three miles or so and walked back with the doggos.
To treat ourselves, we landed on Sherman’s Ice Cream. As one of the more popular parlors in the area, it was a must, AND also recommended. I also loved that they had ice cream for pups. So Johnny had some too.
It was time for a nap after this ice cream overload.
Here’s an overall view of the portable fun!
