A Southern State You Won’t Want to Miss- Tennessee
Welcome to one of the most fun southern states you’ll ever visit!
TENNESSEE
This trip was relatively short- from Thursday night to Tuesday morning (usually the best time/dates to fly since it’s practically mid-week). I visited with my sister and two friends. I think two to four is the best size group to travel with because you can most likely complete everyone’s goals in the time permitted and still be able to explore.
Since we’re from Miami, Florida, we experienced a small hour time change. We arrived to our airbnb to stay the night. I love airbnb! It’s usually the most affordable type of stay, especially if you’re on a tight budget.
We ate dinner at Jack in the Box, a very popular fast food service they have. By the time we had the munchies, we had to use the drive thru but it was SO worth it! Look at all that goodness (and the calories we’ll be walking off tomorrow).
A New City
We had breakfast at a well-recommended location- Biscuit Love. It’s definitely a very aesthetically pleasing place and my sister had found it on pinterest, so it was a go!
Amelia’s Flower Truck was parked outside with so many cute arrangements. The owner said she wanted to make flowers easily accessible for the townspeople. Can you believe they only have three trucks in all of Nashville?!
We admired the truck and soon entered Biscuit Love. They had a HUGE Nashville light up sign on the left wall- very aesthetically pleasing! The decor definitely did the trick! But the food… 100% homemade!
We ate the bonuts, which is a fried biscuit dough topped with sugar, and the gertie, which is a buttermilk biscuit with a chocolate, peanut butter, pretzel crunch.
Definitely hit the spot!
We explored the Ryman Auditorium, where music was born! The building is 100+ years old and through the years became a home for popular musicians and artists, such as Dolly Parton and Hank Williams.
We walked around a little until we got to Honky Tonk Central for some live music and beer. As one of the most popular places in the city, it’s a must do! It has such a good, happy vibe. What’s not to love about some good’ol country music? (I’m not really a huge country music person but after today, I had a little more of an appreciation towards it). I love how they connect well to their audience through emotion.
Sleep. Wake Up. Repeat.
Good morning from the Pancake Pantry, where you have to wake up before the early bird gets the worm! It opens at 6:00 AM and there’s always a huge line to get in and sit, especially on the weekends.
It was established in 1961 and has become a well-known Nashville tradition. Everything is made of a secret homemade recipe and there’s only one of its kind! They’ve had many award winning foods, like their hash browns, buttermilk, cornmeal and sweet potato pancakes and their grill cook’s medley. It was worth it but I wouldn’t recommend going with a large group because the seating was a bit tight.
We knew we had to walk off those calories, so we walked through the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center. I originally had low expectations because when I think of a Convention Center, I think of suits everywhere. It was actually really nice…it even had its own greenhouse. If you know me, you know how much I love pictures of plants. The reason I mentioned pictures is because although I love looking at plants, each one has a unique design, so the pictures come out so beautiful. Especially in portrait mode, for all my iPhone users. Maybe I’m the only one who thinks that way, call me crazy!
Here are a few:
Aren’t they beautiful?
The resort was huge! It had a couple of restaurants and a very large space in the middle. To walk to one of them, you had to cross a mini bridge into what seemed like the heart of the hotel. And the other restaurant was right next to the greenhouse. Everything was plant-based and very well kept/cleaned. The resort did not disappoint!
My sister and I always find the cutest spots to take photos, but a talented photographer always finds the right angles! (I don’t remember exactly who took the photos, but thank you Freddy or Michelle!)
To end the trip on a colorful note… we went to the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge. The view!!! WOW!!!
Nashville, Tennessee… we will meet again…
I hope you enjoyed Nashville as much as I did or maybe you will soon! It’s so beautiful, especially with the autumn trees in October, my all-time favorite season.
If you need anymore details, I’d be happy to help!
