Getting to Know Everyone at FIU in Spain

FIU in Spain is a program at Florida International University that allows students to study abroad in Spain. The main courses taken are in Spanish- mostly the verbal aspects, including conjugations, and learning how to properly write in Spanish; as well as understanding the structures of cathedrals. The program is 4-weeks and the professors travel with you every weekend to different cities to capture other sights and cultures.

This program introduces you to Spain’s culture, citizens and foods. Along with my classmates- Sophia Cazanas, Fermin Morales, Melissa Cancio (myself), and Tico Ginart- we explored multiple areas, had different culinary experiences with the hosts we stayed with, and had a blast everywhere we went!

These questions below were the focus of the interview:

  1. What foods / drinks would you like to see more of in America?
  2. What was your initial reaction to culinary customs and practices in Spain?
