Mountains, Wine, and Great Weather in Wyoming

Driving into Wyoming was incredibly beautiful. We saw all kinds of blues in the sky and we were just jamming out coming from Montana. Our plan went a little like this:

The Views

National Elk Refuge

It is a Wildlife Refuge in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We stumbled upon this sanctuary on our way into town. There were a few goats and other animals, and I think the Elk were hiding. We took some photos, explored a little and wandered in the car. It’s similar to those safari experiences that you drive around the park and soak in the views.

To provide a little history of the park…it was established in 1912 to protect the largest elk herds on our planet. The Refuge is about 24,700 acres and is home to almost 7,500 elk. Herds can reach around 6,000-8,000 elk or more.

Grand Teton National Park

The Grand Teton National Park is named after the Teton Range Mountains, since 1929. Over the years, glaciers actually created the land with its canyons and jagged peaks. Grand Teton is home to the calliope hummingbird, which are the smallest birds in North America, and it’s the only national park with its own airport. It’s the youngest range for the Rocky Mountains with a 40-mile range!

We visited Jenny Lake and it was absolutely beautiful! There were a few locals that recommended that spot because it’s not a high tourist area. So the locals can enjoy it more. We walked for a few hours during sunset, planned that accordingly, to then realize that we were on the opposite side of the mountain when the sun was setting. I think that was the part I was most sad about because I had my Pinterest expectations to a high standard. While on the hike, I appreciated my hiking boots like no other. There was so much mud, rocks, and all kinds of little creatures to walk on. It was a “no regrets” kind of moment. By an hour or so, we reached the top of the waterfall and the view was breathtaking!

Foodie Land

Jackson Hole Winery

The wines from this winery are imported from California and made specifically for this vineyard. It’s such a cute spot to come out, relax, and enjoy their wines. They also ship nationwide! Ted was incredible and very knowledgeable. The experience was award-winning for a reason. We also loved that dogs are welcome to run around and swim in the lake. We overlooked the mountains and the experience as a whole was just something worth doing if you went to Wyoming.

And if you’re interested in matching with me, here’s my top!

StillWest Brewery

Elevating the western experience was exactly what we got. StillWest overlooks the Snow King Mountain and crafts beers with their menus made from scratch. The view is what we really came for, but the food did not disappoint!

Rooftop, mountains, beer, friends, food… what more can you ask for?! It was insanely beautiful and we loved the spot. It was also extremely close to everything, so we were able to soak in all of Wyoming in one restaurant. We also couldn’t resist a flight, especially with how cheap it was to mix and match their styles.

Out of all the states I traveled to on this trip, this truly made it to the top two! Grand Teton is my favorite national park by far. I also had a lot of hopes and dreams when it came to sunset time because of Pinterest based on how the mountain aligned with the water… but we just so happened to be on the opposite end. All in all, I loved the visit to Wyoming, especially because I have a newfound love for its national park in Jackson Hole.

The town is so precious and offers so much. It looked like one of those locations in a romance novel- similar to those they choose for Hallmark movies. If you know what I’m talking about, we should watch movies together! I’m too much of a hopeless romantic not to notice this kind of thing.

Wyoming, you were awesome! Let’s head to IDAHO!!!
