I Love Wisconsin for its Cheese and Beer

I don’t really count the first time I went to Wisconsin, because it was for an event. So my boyfriend and I made a trip out of it for our anniversary. I want to share a guide to it, especially during crazy times like this pandemic and how much we did with all sorts of safety precautions.

The Stay

We booked The Delafield Hotel for another reason, but decided to keep it for our anniversary celebration. It’s honestly one of the cutest hotels I’ve ever been to and my boyfriend obviously outdid himself. Shoutout to him and his romantic skills to keep me on my toes.

I immediately entered the room and I was probably blind, because even if it was in my line of sight, I did not see anything. The hotel gave us this cute little card and we did the honors of popping the champagne bottle.

I am a HUGE sucker for rose pedals and all the hopeless romantic stuff. I probably look at Pinterest all day long trying to come up with ideas and what not. It felt like a cute little fairytale.

The Delafield Hotel also has a few amenities we took advantage of, like this restaurant called I.D.

It’s such a classy spot because everyone comes in dressed up and ready to eat fancy. We had some of the best truffle fries ever! (My first favorite is in Earls in Miami). The pheasant was absolutely AMAZING, OUT OF THIS WORLD, EVERYTHING! I definitely want more of it.

The vibe of the restaurant was similar to RPM in Chicago– dimmed lights, fancy feels and a classy touch. Everything we wanted for the start of our anniversary weekend!

Breakfast Spots

We walked around the Waukesha Farmer’s Market and couldn’t really purchase anything. I didn’t realize they only accepted cash, so we just took a stroll around the parking lot it was in.

A tip though: It’s only opened on Saturdays 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM, so take note if you want to go.

I found the cutest breakfast spot- Belfrē Kitchen in Delafield, Wisconsin. It looks like a little Pacific style lodge house. They had a few seasonal items, but the waitress mentioned they were known for their French toast. We definitely did not go that route, but the food was good anyways.

Thank you google maps for this beauty- Cafe de Arts Roasters. This cute coffee shop is in Waukesha, near the Waukesha Farmer’s Market. I absolutely loved all the homey decor and it honestly got me thinking of opening my own coffee shop! I’m not sure how that will happen, but it’s always a possibility. What do you think?

The Outdoors

We were feeling like a kid again when we walked through the Swing Park. I didn’t want to touch the swings because of #covid, but the concept under the bridge is a cute idea! Shoutout to self-timer for my picture with my boyfriend.

Waukesha had some pretty cool spots to visit, like this Riverwalk. The trees are already in fall mode and I’m loving every minute of it. It’s also extremely cold, but we made the most of what we had!

There was also art work, the clock tower and other sites to see. Waukesha is an underestimated city for sure!

There’s Milwaukee’s Black Alley Cat, which had two different concepts. So the first is that there is a short alley way before the shop with a bunch of art work from various artists. It reminds of the design district at home because artists go to express themselves and their pieces for others to see. We took out the self-timer on my phone and took some together-shots.

I absolutely love artwork because each piece tells a story. While I may not have the artist in front of me, I think each piece is worth a shot to promote.

The second idea is that on the right of the shop, they have items you can purchase. On the left, they have a spot where friends can come together, reserve the area and play with the cats. The cats are also ready for adoption, so it gives people an incentive to want to be playful with them because they are trying to find a home.

Breweries

We met up with my boyfriend’s friends to go brewery hopping. I’ve never done it, but thought it would be a cool idea!

I wanted to try local beers and we did! Our first stop is Stubby’s Gastropub and Beer Bar. It was a recommended brewery and the inside was so cute, but due to covid, we had to sit outside. Thankfully there were heaters for some warmth in our thirty-degree weather.

The view was also spectacular!

My boyfriend’s first recommended our next stop at Eagle Park Brewery and it’s dog-friendly! We had half beers and let the guys choose what we would have. We ended up with some fruity beers, but nonetheless different!

The brewery space was like a sports bar feel. It’s a very chill spot for a group of friends to just have a few drinks at.

Our third spot was walking distance to Lakefront Brewery. This place is BEAUTIFUL and so large inside! It reminds of a German beer hall, everything we ever needed in that moment. They also have the BEST cheese curds in the state.

Walking to Revere’s Well Street Tavern really did the trick from the hotel. We had a few drinks and small meals to end the say on a good note.

Because I’m a Tourist

If you didn’t go to a cheese anything in Wisconsin, did you really travel to the state? We stopped at Clock Shadow Creamery, knowing we could not do a tour because of covid’s suspension and it was terrible!

Of course, Tyler and I chose some cheeses to take home. The employee put a video of the storyline of the place and how they make the cheese, so we at least ha a snippet of what FIU looks like.

His friends also mentioned the Milwaukee Public Market to walk around and experience. There were so many little shops, but we ended up with an olive oil tasting!

On our way home, we stopped by Studio Winery in Lake Geneva. We had a super cute wine tasting and really had a feel for the place. It reminds me painting with a twist back home. You can reserve separate parties too!

I know this guide may seem like there’s way too much to do, but take it one at a time. Wisconsin has so much to offer and I absolutely loved very minute of it. Check out the guide for you and let me know what you think!
